  • You don't know if this was criminal damage or an accident. These ANPR systems are completely nonsensical. They can and do cause drivers to make mistakes. Probably best to remove the ANPR and use the money saved to do actually useful things like fix potholes, unblock drains etc.

  • Circumstantial Evidence strongly suggests it was highly likely to be criminal damage. A road sign adjacent had been unscrewed from its posts and also thrown on the ground. Sometime ago groups of ASB youths too had been seen congregating at this very spot. If it was 'an accident'where is the accident record where the driver stopped reported what theyd done to the Police and offered restitution etc for the damage done?Strongly suspect none exists? It fits well with the character of Drivers generally around this junction and locally. A blatant and dangerous disregard for the law. Driving along the whole course of a pavement at speed 2 wheels on the footway? Reversing into and flattening other street signs then just driving off? Jay parking on double yellows and communal grass areas when it suits them? Blocking pavments by parking full on pavements? Throwing litter cig butts and empty laughing gas cannisters out the window? Destroying grass verges with their parking? Honking their horns unneccessarily? You think we love these peep? We have seen the disasterous resuklts in the past few weeks of what happens when drivers have accidents. I know of a number of residents who have taken out extra insurance as a result of drivers demeanour. Only the other day the press reported a car going through the wall of a house near Caldecott one sunny afternoon. Its terryfying.
