Unsafe pavement

Reported via mobile in the Pavements category anonymously at 09:57, Thursday 4 May 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Hi,

I emailed the road safety about this over a month ago and have had no reply. Today my daughter was almost hit by a car on this dangerous pavement and it makes me feel sick that this hasn’t been addressed. Huge numbers of children take this route to school twice every day and it is such a busy road (with huge lorries coming down frequently - apparently the alternative entrance is still two years away). There is not a safe pedestrian access on the left side of camp road as it is way too narrow, and has no barrier or space between the busy road and the pavement.

Please prioritise getting this addressed before something terrible happens.

Kind regards, Amber chadwick

See my email to Road safety below;:

A large number of parents have been talking about the safety concerns on Camp Road (specifically outside Sainsbury’s, the long stretch of narrow path just before the shops, and outside the cafe). It just seems so dangerous because it’s got no rails or bollards or anything. Already there have been some close calls when children are scooting, biking and walking in this area and it is so worrying that there are no safety measures in place.

Additionally, this road is so busy now. I know that a lot of the traffic will reduce when the Chilgrove business entrance is open and used. This would make a big difference and reduce some of the risk. When is this due to take place?

It really needs to be addressed before something terrible happens. I have a lot of people also concerned but thought one email is probably sufficient. I will pass on your thoughts to them too.

Thank you for looking into this and ensuring the neighbourhood is safe.
