The potholes may never be fixed as no money?Roads going to pot?

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 12:58, Sat 29 April 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The 20mph speed limit is fortuitous in Abingdon as one will now be able to negotiate the many unfixed potholes easier. Its my sneaking suspicion though that The Council are letting the upkeep of the roads go to pot. We see soooooo many and they are getting deeper. Seems its impossible to keep up any repairs and they are not being repaired it seems to me. So much of Abingdon just looks like its being left to rot. Obviously the roads will become unuseable. Even the cycle lane markings eg Stratton Way have faded to oblivion despite last year appeals to re paint. As a c.1700 pound per annum Council Tax payer on low income (not benefits)one wonders what on earth is going on? I dont even have a car. But we are not a poor family. All through the 1960s (before many readers of this were born)we possessed a variety of cars in the family. Its just Ive grown up.

  • Sorry all the budget for highways has been spent on vanity projects such as LTNs, traffic filters and imposing pointless 20mph limits in places where they are unwanted.
