Site of common puddle causing traffic conflict

Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by Benjamin Rule at 10:48, Sat 15 April 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This location regularly develops a wide puddle after rain. It is in a bend which restricts visibility. When northbound traffic has to use the southbound side of the road it can be difficult to see oncoming vehicles before it is too late. The road surface is also deteriorating because of the flooding and there are currently large potholes making the issue more dangerous. This report is a request to fix the regular flooding as the potholes have been reported separately. It should be possible to improve drainage towards the field on the west side of the road to prevent water building up.

  • The flooding on the bend is caused because the ditches are not dug out properly, or for sufficient distance to drain the water away from the road. This has now resulted in two very large deep potholes which are very dangerous as they cannot be seen when covered by flood water. Note flooding on this bend has only occured in recent years.
