The Post and Rail side guards on the steps rising from the Waggon Path on the Southmoor side are loose and there is a danger that someone needing to hold on to the Rails when descending (particularly the rails on the eastern side) might fall into the surrounding bushes or fall headlong down the steps. At least one of the steps has a piece missing causing a possible slip hazard. The pathway descending on the Longworth side of the bridge is overgrown with brambles meaning the handrail cannot be accessed.

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

There is great danger of a serious accident caused by the Post and Rail failing or not being available as a hand hold.

Please arrange an early inspection and then repair of the regularly used pathway between Longworth and Southmoor. It is the only crossing of the A420 that does not involve the danger of being hit by a fast moving vehicle.
