30 inch pothole in middle of Road opposite 24 Membury Way

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 14:53, Wednesday 22 March 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This pothole has been here for a couple of months and gets worse each time there is cold weather. The black mark in the middle of the top of the photo is actually a hole - there is nothing under the thin top layer of ‘tarmac’. The road all around the pothole is sinking. Dangerous as the hole is not visible on approach, especially when wet.

Updates

  • Thank you for your enquiry. This issue has been passed onto the relevant team for investigation.

    State changed to: Investigating

  • I have reported this to Thames Water because the subsidence may be caused by a leak to the trunk water main nearby. From the pothole, you can see subsidence right back to the water main pothole cover. Thames Water advise it is down to you to investigate to tell them if when you did you find evidence of a water leak. The legal liability rests with you. There is a risk of a trunk main failure for which you would be held accountable by treating the problem as not urgent.
