Pedestrian guardrail failure - section removed by a vehicle

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category by Mark McCappin at 17:46, Sunday 19 March 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Pedestrian guardrail structure exists along the full length of Dry Lane on the elevated causeway between the Windrush River Bridge and the village. Despite repeated reports of the failed status of this structure (Most recent on Fix-my-street 28 July 2022 Reference ENQ22930504) no maintenance has been carried out. Structure was hit by some passing vehicle on Friday 17th March 2023 and a section was removed and fell into the adjacent stream. OCC emergency staff attended at 23:00hrs on 17/03/23 to put up warning plastic barriers. A full structural repair of the entire length of guardrail should be carried out. In its present condition, the guardrail offers no protection to pedestrians on this narrow footway and no effective barrier to vehicles. This is a live safety hazard.
