Correct format of sign?

Reported via desktop in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 16:04, Sunday 26 February 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Hi. A sign has been put up to tell motorists not to overtake cyclists on the bridge (There may be one on the other side of the bridge too..). I am concerned that this sign may not be legally correct if it is supposed to be an instruction. The sign is green with a white border. Can I suggest that this sign should be red with white writing? The situation is confusing if the sign is supposed to be an instruction. Thanks.

  • Thank you for your enquiry and please accept our apologies for the delay in response. The white lettering on a lght green background is in fact a fairly new color of sign that is availavble for cycle related signage and is considered appropriate to use this at this location. We hope this helps clarify and as you suggest, there are two signs, one each side of the bridge.
