Construction Site Access across Pedestrian Crossing
Reported via desktop anonymously at 11:11, Thursday 16 February 2023
Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council 35 minutes later
The land adjacent to this site has development signs erected and site hoardings have been constructed with the site access within 5m of a traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing and within the safe crossing area. This is wholly unacceptable and permission should not have been provided for this development with access in this location. The site team have previously chosen to park site vehicles completely blocking the pavement in this area as well.

Dear Mr Doherty,
The hoarding and signs are on private land, therefore OCC are unable to speak to the Developer about their location.
You will need to speak to Planning at Cherwell District Council about the location of the access, as it would have been approved as part of the Planning Permission.
The access is currently only temporary until the Developer enter into a Section 278 Agreement with OCC, which will hopefully be signed and completed soon. Our Site Inspector believes the gate is not in the correct position and will be moved as part of the permanent access works.
Kind regards

Hi, nothing has changed at this location since your update above. The contractors have moved heavy machine onto site, directly across the safe zone of the pedestrian crossing and the contractors personal vehicles are regularly parked across the public footpath around the crossing area, blocking access to the crossing for members of the public and preventing use of the footpath. This is clearly a highways matter and should be dealt with as such.
