Road markings confusing - pavement by new Aldi

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 20:37, Tuesday 31 January 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The new Aldi store on Wootton Rd opened recently and the vehicle access just cuts across an existing cycle track. The cycle track markings just end, no markings to show who has right of way. We assumed this would be built similar to the entrances to Botley Rd Aldi, where cars have to give way to cyclists and pedestrians before emerging onto the road. Would you mind checking this please? I'd be very surprised if OCC Highways had approved what's been done here, as it's an accident waiting to happen.

  • Dear Mr Bradley,

The works at Aldi on Wootton Road, Abingdon have not been completed as of yet. The access works, once fully complete, will reflect the layout agreed within the Planning Permission that shows a raised crossing at the access to the store.

    Kind regards
    Road Agreements Team
