Risk from speeding traffic reported

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 13:23, Friday 27 January 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Swalcliffe Parish Council have become increasingly concerned about the speed at which traffic drives through the village, specifically the B4035 that runs through the centre of the village. This matter has also been raised as a significant concern by parishioners who are worried about safety. The Parish Council would like to explore with Oxfordshire County Highways the options that might be available to encourage more cautious driving through the village. Including the possibility of reducing the speed from 30 to 20mph, reviewing the location of existing signage and encouraging Highways to consider installing more structural changes to the road layout (eg. chicane type arrangement). We would welcome your response and engagement on this matter and like to invite a representative to a future council meeting. Separately the Parish Council are taking forward other traffic calmer measures within their control (eg. speed watch, signage and liaison with police enforcement).
