Access to bin lorry
Reported via desktop anonymously at 19:37, Mon 16 January 2023
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later
Cars parked in this location prevent access to Chapel Close for the bin lorry. Concerned it may also prevent access to fire engine if needed. Needs a solution but double yellow lines would not be effective as no means of enforcing them.

Dear Mr Fisher,
Chapel Close does not have an adoption agreement in place yet and we are still in the process of resolving some legal/ownership issues. However, there is a mutual desire to progress adoption as soon as we are able.
The issue of parking and access at the entrance to Chapel Close was not identified at the point of pre-construction in 2007, so no need for any measures were put forward. However, we do accept that traffic volumes, car ownership and driver attitudes do change over time so this is something which may need to be reviewed.
We will pass the matter to our Traffic Team to assess and if they suggest any potential ‘soft’ mitigation measures, then perhaps we could approach the developer to fund the work.
Kind regards
Adoptions Team

Photographic evidence taken 22/5/23 of poor/faded "Keep Clear" road markings and a persistent regular illegal parker's vehicle situated in this spot. I spoke to the elderly lady who owns the vehicle, mentioned that she was parked on a 'Keep Clear' area and the reasons why it is unacceptable to do so (restricting access to Chapel Close for bin lorries and emergency services etc), to which she replied "Well I have to park SOMEWHERE" . I told her if she continued to do so in that location (she has since moved the Green Honda vehicle for today) that I would report her to which she replied "well, go ahead if you must", hence this posting. I have not reported her to the Police on this occasion but will do should she re-offend. (Anon. local resident, living opposite).
