New road junction has been badly constructed

Reported via desktop in the Current Roadworks - live information category anonymously at 10:52, Mon 16 January 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The new road junction on Shipton Road next to the new development has been very badly constructed. It is too narrow, given that school buses regularly have to turn this corner and pass other road users, and the Northern side of the corner is extremely bumpy, patchy and uneven. That road surface is going to start breaking up in 5 minutes, with the amount of school traffic that regularly uses this road. Please could this be improved (ie. redone properly!) Thank you.

  • I have to bring to your attention the dangerous road change on at Shipton Lane to the new housing development on Cowells road (https://www.google.com/ maps/ @51.8470113,-1.3401513,17z)

The newly created junction (which is still not finished) is plan dangerous - I was almost killed in my car by one of your gritter vehicles coming along shipton road and turning towards marlborough school last night!

The new junction seems to have a temporary surface with an adverse camber that dangerously sends vehicles to the middle of the road. The junction is not wide enough and for some reason the new housing has been given priority rather than creating a mini roundabout, with some widening, which would be far far safer.

Please can you acknowledge this complaint, register the dangerous near miss with the relevant team and reply within 2 business days regarding the urgent remedial action that will be taken.

I will separately write to the head of the relevant councils regarding this dangerous situation, and also to the press - it really needs to be urgently addressed

    Kind regards,
