Improving the pedestrian access to this intersection

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 13:16, Wed 21 December 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

As you will know this junction is very heavily used by cars and pedestrians. I regularly use it as I walk to and from the railway station. Pedestrians have to wait far too long to cross any of the highways and when they are signalled to cross you invariably only get halfway. This is poor management at various levels: Pedestrians are penalised for trying to cross the road as the road traffic is given much more time and unrestricted access to use the junction than pedestrians. Waiting to cross the road is a danger to health from the exhaust fumes of the traffic. Being stranded in the middle of the highway is especially frustrating and can be nerve-wracking due to limited space and proximity to fast-moving traffic. At this particular intersection every effort should be made to prioritise the route to the stations this encourage people to use public transport. Please can you tell me how it is possible to make this intersection more pedestrian-friendly and reduce the dominance of motorised traffic.
