Faulty tarmac
Reported via mobile anonymously at 14:08, Sun 4 December 2022
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later
Some tarmac was put around the manhole at Hurst Rise Road entrance to Hutchcomb’s copse within the last week or so. The genius who installed it didn’t ensure that the gate could open over this repair so there is now a permanently open gate where people walk their dogs.

Thank you for your report. I have visited the site you pinpointed on the map, at the entrance to Hutchcomb's Copse/Louie Memorial Fields, Hurst Rise Road to Hutchcomb Road link footpath, between 47 & 49 Hurst Rise Road, see photos.

Thank you for your report. I have visited the site you pinpointed on the map, at the entrance to Hutchcomb's Copse/Louie Memorial Fields, Hurst Rise Road to Hutchcomb Road link footpath, between 47 & 49 Hurst Rise Road, see photos, and assessed the issue that you have identified.
To answer your comment 'The genius who installed it didn’t ensure that the gate could open over this repair'. I was the 'genius' who requested this tarmac to be put in place to fix a safety defect, reported on FixMyStreet, concerning a 'raised manhole cover and broken concrete are a trip hazard' issue, see FixMyStreet report https://fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ report/ 3934933 . The gate, at this entrance, swinging into the copse, was the reason/cause of this trip hazard/safety defect, by cutting away at the concrete in front of the manhole cover. To remedy this was the County Council's, and therefore my, immediate priority.
To answer your comment 'so there is now a permanently open gate'. I have submitted a request, to
North Hinksey Parish Council, who are the Hutchcomb's Copse's landowner, and therefore responsible for this gate, to arrange for the gate to be raised, or repositioned so that it opens outwards into Hurst Rise Road, to enable it to open and shut again.
I am therefore closing this report. To pursue this matter contact:
