20 cm light post inside in direction with my house

Reported via mobile anonymously at 21:14, Fri 4 November 2022

Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This light post is 20 cm inside the entrance of my house and has got 50 cm distance from the gate column. I am living here since 2016 , I have scratched my previous car couple of times and have repaired it on my expenses. Now I bought a bigger car and it is very difficult to get in my entrance/ driveway with this car. Every time that I get in the house when I am driving from Marston Ferry Road I have to go on the opposite of the road to make sure that won’t scratch it, but this is not safe not only going on the opposite site but also that the cars behind me without understanding where I am going even though that I have my indicator on they don’t stop and it is very very dangerous as it might happen an accident with the car coming behind me. Many times they shout and swear us and it is not nice. Also my husband is a minibus driver, he has got the company’s minibus that he uses and he brings it every day at home overnight, it is very difficult for him to get in the driveway with this light post being there. I have already extended my gate entrance and my driveway but still it is difficult. Please can you consider my problem and find a solution to put this light post further. Best wishes, Parantina Christouli

  • As I have explained before, to be able to get into my driveway I have to go slightly to the opposite side of the road as I have a big car. Everyday while I turn left to get into my driveway the drivers behind me think I go to the opposite direction even though I have the signal on. Many times they swear, shouting and horn. It is an everyday problem and I desperately need a solution. My car is brand new, 6 meters long , which makes it more difficult to get into my driveway and I don’t want to have an incident. Who is going to be responsible if an incident happens? It is not my fault that this light pole is 20 cm inside of my driveway and 50 cm in front of the gate column which makes the entrance with the car difficult for me. I haven’t received any response or any action to be taken so far . Please can you update me on what action will the council take to solve this issue. Thank you Parantina Christouli

  • Hi I am writing to you again as no actions have been taken for my request. As I have explained previously I have to go on the opposite of the road to make sure that won’t scratch my car as it is a van, but this is not safe not only going on the opposite site but also that the cars behind me without understanding where I am going even though that I have my indicator on they don’t stop and it is very very dangerous as it might happen an accident with the car coming behind me. Not far just last night a car was just about to crash on my car. I don’t want to risk the life of my children. I want action to be taken immediately for this problem.
