Large growth of ivy and brambles intruding onto verge

Reported via desktop in the Grass and Hedges category anonymously at 14:47, Mon 24 October 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This large growth of ivy and brambles is threatening to reduce the sight line from the drive of our house onto Station Road. Coming from the roundabout the road bends and cars moving at faster than the 20 mph speed limit (which are the majority) can be hard to see until the last few seconds. The houses, known as The Dutch Cottages, outside of which this growth is located have been rented for many years and are currently unoccupied.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. This issue has been passed onto the relevant team for investigation.

    State changed to: Investigating

  • Landowners and occupiers are required to trim any hedge on their property that is next to the public highway where the growth is preventing the passage, or affecting the safety, of the highway user. Oxfordshire County Council is only entitled to carry out works to keep the streets safe. However, in this instance the highway was not obstructed from use and we do not believe we have sufficient cause to take further action at this time but will continue to monitor during statutory inspections
