Problems reversing into the drive due to amount of fast moving traffic which does not give way and number of obstacles compromising visibility.

Reported via desktop in the Road Markings category anonymously at 13:51, Thu 13 October 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

We are a respite centre for children with severe learning disabilities and autism in Oxford Road opposite the entrance to The Elms. We have a minibus for transporting the young people and find it increasingly difficult and dangerous to get out on to the Oxford Road. We cannot reverse into the drive due to amount of traffic and cars and vans which cut past as we are attempting to reverse. There are 2 lanes of traffic and drivers do not give way to allow us to reverse in. There are no keep clear signs at the entrance so drivers do not voluntarily give way. It is dangerous and upsets the children on the bus. We are then forced to drive in forwards but then have to reverse out onto the main road when we next leave the premises which is prohibited. We also have school transport minibuses which travel to and from a number of special schools in the area accessing the site twice a day who also find it difficult. The amount of traffic, the speed of the traffic, the number of obstacles cutting down visibility and the fact drivers don't slow down or give way make the situation very stressful and difficult for our children and staff doing their job.

  • Your own staff are part of the problem because they park just in front of the sign in your second photo making it impossible for anyone leaving Milne Close to see what vehicles are coming along the Oxford Road heading towards town.
