Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Towards the end of the Vineyard going towards the Abingdon town centre, there are two sets of traffic lights, one at the Waitrose/Abbey Close junction, and one before the Stert St/Stratton Way junction. These lights when turning red are staggered, presumably to allow traffic going through the first set to allow them through the second. However, the time delay of about three seconds at present is NOT long enough. It needs say to be extended to five or six seconds.
Thank you for your report, we are now investigating this issue and an update will be posted as soon as possible.

The operation of the junction has been checked. Currently there is a fixed delay of 5 seconds between the 2 sets of signals turning red. This delay is to help prevent exit blocking from occurring through the junction. Leaving a gap for right turners and vehicles exiting Abbey Close. Increasing this delay would have a negative impact of the junction's overall capacity and therefore no changes are planned.
