Overhanging trees

Reported via desktop in the Trees category anonymously at 18:22, Thu 22 September 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

As our garden backs onto a footpath and small stream. when we first moved here the trees were trimmed regularly. Now they have not been done for years and therefore have grown very tall and the branches overhang our garden. We have tried to sort this problem but to no avail. The trees now block the sun later in the day and we get all the leaves from all the trees. Last year we filled at least 4 brown bins of leaves. The lawn needs clearing every day.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. I have visited the location and assessed the trees. The trees are on land not deemed to be part of the highway maintainable at public expense and therefore, Oxfordshire County Council do not have responsibility for the trees as local highway authority. I believe the tree may be the responsibility of the Vale of White Horse District Council and therefore you should contact them directly to pursue this enquiry further.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
