Lots of loose grit on the road

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 13:14, Thu 22 September 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Would it be possible to have someone with a road sweeper attend Pottle Close and its junction with Fogwell Road? There is a lot of loose grit in the road, causing wheelspin for cars and making turns exciting for cyclists.

Council ref: ENQ22934188

  • Thank you for your report. I have visited the site you pinpointed on the map, in front of 2 Pottle Close, see photos, and assessed the 'Lots of loose grit on the road' you refer to, see photos. I have reported this issue to the Vale of White horse District Council requesting a road sweeper to attend this site. I am therefore closing this report.

Street cleaning of the footway and carriageway (including this loose grit) is the responsibility of the Vale of White Horse District Council. In future please re-report this street cleaning issue on FixMyStreet, selecting the option for street cleansing, as that will send your report directly to Vale of White Horse District Council and they will be able to deal with it and send you any updates. Or contact them at: Web Address: http://www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/ Tel: 01235 422422 (Text phone users add 18001 before you dial) Email: enquiries@whitehorsedc.gov.uk Web Page: REPORTIT (whitehorsedc.gov.uk) Or report it directly to Biffa, their street cleaning contractors, at: Tel: 0300 0610610 E-Mail municipalteam1@biffa.co.uk

Please note: If you are reporting an emergency please do not report it online, but phone our Customer Service Centre on 0345 310 1111. As stated in the Fix My Street help page, Fix My Street is not suitable for urgent issues (councils can take up to a week to read reports) and, in any case, there will be additional delays because the county council will need to forward the report to the district council.

What isn’t it for? The Fix My Street web site is not a way of getting in touch with the council for all issues - please use it only for specific problems highlighted in the FixMy Street Help Page: https://fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ faq As we often route problems via our cleansing services or highways departments, using the site for other matters may result in a delay in your report getting to the right people. You will need to contact the county council directly for: - Any urgent or emergency problems
