Worn road markings

Reported via desktop in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 12:09, Tuesday 30 August 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

At the junction of the A41 and the B4011 the road markings have worn and are impossible to see, therefore people are not stopping to give way when they should be. Given that this is currently a diversion route (and will be over the dark and wet winter months) people who are not familiar with the junction will continue to cause problems. I have already seen a few near misses here since Ploughley Road was closed and OCC failed to create a safe civersion route.

  • This continues to be a problem especially now the evenings are dark. Last night it possibly contributed to a RTC at the junction of the A41 and B4011 leaving one vehicle on its roof. The white lines are almost impossible to see in the dark, leading to vehicles stopping in the wrong place, not stopping at (invisible) giveaway lines and turning in the wrong place. This requires urgent attention before a fatality occurs.
