V low hanging branches -Banbury Rd/Davenant Rd

Reported via desktop in the Trees category anonymously at 11:35, Tuesday 30 August 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

There are two trees either side of the post box on the west side of Banbury Rd near junction with Davenant Rd. They are not marked on the OCC map and the marker cannot be placed in the correct location. The branches need to be trimmed or crowns lifted, by ~ 7 feet, to allow pedestrians and cyclists to pass freely underneath them. I reported this in August 21 and was told by ODS/OCC that the tree officer would visit; no action has been taken. There is a safety issue as pedestrians and cyclists have to move to central area to get underneath.

  • There has been no change, the branches are still too low for cyclists on the cycle path and pedestrians to pass under easily. What was the result of the investigation?

  • I have now visited site. These trees are privately owned and not on the Highway maintainable at public expense. Due to the low branches as indicated in your enquiry, I have instructed contractors to remove low hanging branches to provide adequate clearance to the highway and will be advising the landowners of their responsibility. Thank you for your patience.
