Missing road markings are causing near misses and accidents

Reported via desktop in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 14:21, Thursday 25 August 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The white lines and road markings, including the road numbers in the lanes are illegible due to being completely worn away. This is particularly evident in the lanes over the M40 and approaching the junction for the A361. This is causing regular near misses and has caused a recent RTC. - One car ended down a slope and had to be recovered using a crane arm. Luckily no serious injuries. - While waiting 5 hours for recovery of the other vehicle, we witnessed 2 very near misses, where vehicles had to perform emergency braking, and numerous vehicles in the wrong lane for the A361.

This issue has been reported a number of times, including one in February and another in July. - Each time the report is closed as there is "work planned", however, there is nothing visible in one.network for the next 12 months. The work was slated to be done between April and October.

Please address this serious safety issue immediately or provide temporary signage until the "weather dependant" work can be completed, to prevent further accidents and near misses.

  • Please can the lines on the roundabout be painted. They are completely worn away and for such a busy roundabout this is unacceptable.
