Parking problem causing road danger

Reported via iOS in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 18:12, Sunday 14 August 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

People from Foster Road are parking their vehicles along Hanson Road opposite the junction with Rose Avenue thereby converting Hanson Road into a single lane. As a result, turning right out of Rose Avenue is particularly dangerous since you have to use the right hand side of the road to pass the parked cars whilst the curvature of the road means that cars entering Hanson Road at speed cannot see the Rose Avenue exit……so cars meet head-on. Double yellow lines are in my view required.

  • Thank you for your report. The installation of formal waiting restrictions (double yellow lines) requires the implementation of a 'Traffic Regulation Order', this involves a long and expensive legal process including full consultation, i regret that Oxford shire County Council could not fund such a scheme at this time. Vehicles parking in either a dangerous position or in such a manner as to cause an obstruction of the public highway are commingling an offence under Section 22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, this legislation is enforced by Thames Valley Police.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
