A sunken trench across the width of the road
Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 14:44, Fri 12 August 2022
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
This trench was previously refilled a couple of years ago but began dropping again after about a year. It now has a very sharp edge which causes vehicles to drop which obviously causes a great deal of noise but more importantly it significantly shakes the houses in our small development which are 20-30 metres away. I can hear the thumping as I am writing this. It may not look bad but it is the noisiest carriageway defect on Faringdon Road

I posted my original statement about the ‘trench’ in August and now see a ‘man with shovel’ graphic on the map. Does this mean that action is going to be taken about this incredibly noisy fault?

I spoke at length with the leader of the team as the job was being done and he promised to make a repair that lasted. However after just 3 months the ‘fix’ has already started to crumble. The gravel used for the repair is already coming loose and exposing the trench it was meant to fill. Surely this is a waste of everybody’s time and money. There is a symbol on your map marking another repair which is close by that has white paint around it. Could my repair be done properly this time while the team is in our area. I do hope so.
