Traffic light sensors not working properly

Reported via desktop in the Traffic Lights (permanent only) category anonymously at 07:48, Friday 12 August 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Approaching from Cowley (westbound) on the bypass the traffic lights cycle through green very quickly, even if there is no traffic on the roundabout waiting. This causes long queues throughout the day back past Sandy Lane, causing unnecessary pollution alongside the school)

Council ref: 3748601

Asset ID: F202 - Rose Hill Roundabout (LED) (ANPR :33)

Updates

  • Thank you for your recent report. For safety reasons the signal operation is designed to try and keep the internal gyratory clear to help reduce exit blocking that can occur. Due to the size of the roundabout there is little storage for vehicles who have either entered from 1 of the uncontrolled approaches or want to turn right from the A4142. The operation of the junction has been checked and found to be working correctly and without any current faults. We will continue to monitor the signals.
