Temporary surface inadequate

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 09:25, Wed 10 August 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Recent temporary surfacing of portions of highway between A34 and A4130 interchange, and traffic controls at junction of A4130 and Steventon Hill, are in bad surface condition, almost as bad as leaving the damaged surface in place. When will a permanent surfacing be undertaken?

  • When will this road surface be properly mended? It is a busy A road. My teeth are in danger of falling out when I drive along it due to the shaking and juddering.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. This is all covered by a future improvement scheme - https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ residents/ roads-and-transport/ roadworks/ future-transport-projects/ relief-rowstock, being delivered by majors. At the moment there would be not point us doing any major work there as this will just all get dug up in a year or so. The best we can really do at the moment is defects.

We will be providing some funding to this scheme so that the right maintenance treatment is delivered, and it isn’t just a surface course
