Pothole left side of road when coming from city centre

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 13:49, Monday 25 July 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

When cycling from the city centre on the left side of the road before the traffic lights where you can turn into South Parks Road there is a pothole. It is near a lamppost on the left hand side which has no number on it and across from the Beard construction (gate, tree with sign and little Beard hut) on the other side of the road. Please keep in mind that potholes which are not dangerous for cars might still be dangerous for cycles. I now have begun to cycle in the middle of the road earlier when cycling there before I turn right into South Parks Road to avoid this pothole.

  • Indeed the above reported pothole on Parks Road did prove most dangerous to myself the cyclist on Monday 1st August at approx 1pm. On cycling from the city centre I hit this pot hole and came 'crashing' to the ground. I sustained painful fractures to the ribs concussion and shock and had a 5 hour wait in A and E. Please 'fix' this pot hole urgently and others on this road to prevent this or something worse happening to a cyclist in the future. This information has also been given on the phone to the Councils Customer Service team asking to have this matter dealt with quickly.

  • We witnessed a cyclist coming off her bike here when the front wheel jammed in the hole. The cyclist was thrown over the front handlebars as a result. I think the risk of the same happening again to somebody else is significant.
