Gigaclear cabinet

Reported via desktop anonymously at 10:08, Sat 23 July 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

I am writing with regards to the Gigaclear cabinet located at the top of Parkside in Marcham Oxon, OX136NN. In June I contacted Gigaclear and OCC to express my concern with regard to the cabinet . Gigaclear suggested that I gather wider opinion . I quote from your their reply : 'If this is a community wide issue please do liaise with your local council as we may be able to work with them to rectify any issues that the community have'. I have since gathered the opinions of local residents and this is definitely a community wide issue. Broadly speaking the concerns relate to -Appearance of the cabinet -Location and impact on an area that is meant for relaxation -Noise -Safety at the junction I have summarised the opinions I received from around 30 residents: It looks awful - an eyesore, very obtrusive in one of the loveliest parts of the village. It has totally spoilt an area previously used to pause, rest and enjoy the surroundings. It is hazardous - restricting the view when turning in and out of Parkside. It is totally out of keeping within the area. It's too noisy to sit and relax there. The noise is audible from nearby houses it sounds like a washing machine. I believe the 'local council' which Gigaclear refer to is OCC who I think own the land and I would presume were aware of Gigaclear's intentions to install the cabinet. The local community wish for action to be taken to sort out the problems with the cabinet. They want it relocated. Here are examples of resident's comments: 'surely it could be put somewhere less obtrusive' 'there are many other better locations....away from the houses so the hum can't be heard and in a safe place.'
