No safe crossing for school

Reported via mobile anonymously at 11:03, Wed 29 June 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later

This road has grown increasing busy over the last 2 years. I have personally witnessed 3 near misses with cars speeding well above speed limit as children try and cross. There are no signs, no crossings, zero help! It’s awful. Please, please help. It is a much busier road than it seems at 8.30/3pm. Now big coaches drop kids off from other schools and they go so fast as well. We need help.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. On both approaches to the school there are school warning signs and solar powered orange flashing lights that are timed to coincide with both the school drop-off and pick-up times, during this period there is also an advisory 20mph speed limit for vehicles as opposed to the normal 30mph speed limit within the wider village. The County Council is currently encouraging Town and Parish Councils to consider making 20mph the 'norm' and we would suggest, if you haven't already, discussing this with members of your parish council accordingly.
