Noisy manhole covers in 40mph road

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 08:33, Wednesday 29 June 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This pair of extremely noisy Thames Water manhole covers were replaced one month ago. After 2 weeks they started becoming noisy again. Another 2 weeks later and they are nearly as bad as before the replacement.

I'm not confident that further work will provide a permanent solution. There are numerous heavy lorries along this road and speed seems to be a factor. The loudest noises do seem to come from either heavier vehicles or faster speeds.

Maybe the time has come to make this a 30mph road. I'm sure this would make life much more pleasant for the many householders living nearby and also the many more who will live hear when the forthcoming housing development opens.
