Long delays being caused by temporary traffic lights - AGAIN

Reported via desktop in the Current Roadworks category anonymously at 08:50, Mon 20 June 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Long delays being caused by temporary traffic lights yet again(!). Lights need to be timed to match the flow of traffic! Incredibly long queues towards Ardington direction in the morning & only a few cars on the other side! Then long queues again towards Wantage direction in the afternoon/evening. Please adjust timing of lights accordingly - this happens every time traffic lights are used on this stretch of road & it is incredibly frustrating & inconvenient for all travellers.

  • I've been commuting along this stretch of road for over 30 years now, and it's always been the same whenever there are temporary traffic lights put in place anywhere between Wantage and Rowstock. i.e. long delays whichever direction has the majority of traffic at peak times, and only 5 or 6 cars waiting the other direction.

  • Agreed! Oxford County Council - please help with this situation & intervene to better time the traffic lights. These roadworks are expected to continue for 16 weeks (at least!). It is incredibly frustrating & is consistently making many motorists late for work!
