Vehicles blocking bicycle route

Reported via desktop in the Road Markings category by Paul W at 17:44, Mon 16 May 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

A bicycle route has recently been created linking Lambourne Rd and Kedge Rd. This forms an important safe link for pupils travelling to and from MECE (Chiltern Edge School), and other cyclists. The route is often blocked or made unsafe by selfish parking at the SW end of Lambourne Rd and the NE end of Kedge Rd. Please could suitable road marking be applied to discourage this for the safety of children and all cyclists, especially in the context of the new Highway Code rules defining priority for vulnerable road users. This would also enhance the safety of pedestrians concealed by the tall fence, and absolve any blame for scratched vehicles.

  • Thanks for your concern about scratching cars parked legally in a bay used for parking for around 50 years, however the access in the planning application between Kedge rd and Lambourne rd is pedestrian only not a designated cycle route.
