Heavy Goods Vehicles - Noise Pollution + General Damage

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 13:58, Thursday 12 May 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Hi there,

I live on the B4508 and believe you need to be made aware of the issues we are facing on this road - I believe that the road is unsuitable for Heavy Goods Vehicles and it is worth putting a weight restriction in place.

It causes various issues including noise pollution and damage to the road and at points the road is too narrow and it means that it can become unsafe for regular road users.

The road has collapsed on both sides despite recent repair with potholes regularly open up.

We regularly get huge 30 tonne lorries and huge coaches drive down this road and they often use their horns when going around corners to aware oncoming traffic, this causes disturbance for residents and even occurs regularly through the night - they are incredibly loud as is.

The road isn’t wide enough at points and there are pinch points where lorries use the entire road, I have had a couple of incidents where lorries have almost crashed into me when going round the bends in the road as they have been using both sides of the road - this is unsafe.

There used to be a width restriction on this road because of the bridge which worked well and restricted the damage caused to the road and the bridge.
