Invasive light pollution to home causing onset ill-health

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

New lighting has been fitted (Friday 29/4/22) to the entire postocode as detailed above.

The beams of 2 specific lights beam directly into my property through heavy lined curtains from approximately 20.40 - 6am.

I have health issues triggered by excessive lighting.

The effect is that it is day time throughout the night.

The lights are having a (blinding) direct affect on the delicate array of nature we have in this area including endangered species of birds and mammals such as badgers and deer.

Please can you revert to previous (non-invasive) lighting and/or significantly dim/shield the lights.

The area is already suffering from excessive security sensor triggered lighting and profound light pollution from a supermarket (Morrisons) that has flood-light type erected lighting which currently are so strong they beam through any tree coverage.

Please can you acknowledge safe receipt of this complaint and action as soon as possible. I will be contacting my MP and neighbouring properties to align support for this request.

Highly disappointed the council can be frivoulous with finite financial resource in a climate crisis.

  • Hello

    I have today chased progress with this complaint as I have not had anyone contact me since reporting 1 May 2022.

    I have contacted OCC this afternoon and a member of staff has also logged the complaint for update/progress status.

    Please can I ask you to update/resolve this as a matter of urgency due to the signiicant impact this is having on my health and home enjoyment seeing as the lights penetrate directly into my kitchen, living room and private garden.

  • Streetlighting will visit site tomorrow..17/05/2022, to assess remedies, apologies for delay, but its the first time i have been informed of a problem.
