This public footpath is blocked by a fallen branch or tree, the only way to pass is to climb the fence into the field on the western side, pass the obstruction and climb back again. From this point onwards, south and then south westerly to the public highway the hedge on the eastern side needs to be cut right back as it is encroaching in the path making passage awkward
While the fallen tree has now gone, the footpath is seriously overgrown, in places barely a foot wide. Footpaths are supposed to be at least one metre wide according to gov.co.U.K. The culprits are hedges on the Hammond court side growing outside the fence line. This has got progressively worse over the years. Even when the hedge is trimmed it is still not cut back enough and also the clippings are left leaving and your dog wading through chopped up holly and yew and brambles. Many years ago before the countryside got all politically correct, I used to cycle along this path. Impossible to walk it now, pretty well. I have added
Locator what3words as the nearest spot, but the whole path from the checkendon road into the woods needs attention.
