Dangerous location of bus stop
Reported via iOS in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 08:29, Monday 25 April 2022
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The bus stop heading towards Bicester eastbound is situated in a dangerous position straight after a turn meaning when a bus is stopped it is impossible to see around it. This has led to numerous incidents of vehicles heading towards each other on the same side of the road.

Dear Mr Hunkin,
Thank you for pointing out this situation. OCC and Dorchester have assessed it further as a result of your enquiry and we all agree that your concern is certainly valid.
However, there isn’t an obvious place to re-locate this stop without making the route unattractive for passengers and the bus company.
Although it clearly isn’t an ideal scenario, I am informed by our Traffic Safety Team that there are similar situations around Oxfordshire on busier roads, where there is also limited visibility for vehicles to pull out behind a bus. These apparently have minimal safety problems in reality. Also Camp Road will be subject to a 20mph limit.
We are looking at possible mitigations for this in terms of potential for some signs/markings and also by talking to the bus company about not waiting there other than to set-down and pick up. Even that is not straight forward because it is a designated timing point for the route and so could mess up all their timetables. However, OCC will be liaising with the bus company to try to keep stop times to a minimum.
Thank you for your diligence in raising this issue.
Kind regards
