Footpath top of norwood avenue leading to farringdon road

Reported via desktop anonymously at 14:51, Tuesday 19 April 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

From springtime onwards right through the summer months every year this footpath produces lots of varieties of weeds in varying heights, including nettles, which some children have already been stung by over the years walking with their parent(s) to and from John Blandy school, as this footpath is used as a short cut to Norwood Avenue. Residents residing in Norwood Avenue, including myself, have taken it upon themselves to clear this pathway of all the weeds, taking their brown bins and whatever garden tools that have been required to dig out these weeds when they have got so tall that they restrict and overhang this pathway, and it’s always the same residents that do this each year. It has also encouraged dog walkers to hide their dog poo bags underneath these weeds when they have got out of control, like a jungle!! Someone needs to take ownership of this pathway and maintain year on year and not leave to the sane residents to clear. I live in hope that this can be remedied.

The weeds are getting taller and more have grown. When is a decision likely to be reached?

  • With the sunshine and all the rain we have had the weeds have now drastically taken over. Has anyone come to inspect the site yet?

  • Just to inform you. Pathway with the weeds was getting so bad that the same residents have taken it upon themselves to clear part of it, but some still remain at the top of the path leading to the main road. Someone needs to take ownership of this and maintain on a yearly basis and not leave to the residents to clear. Look forward to hearing who is responsible for this bit of land.
