Noisy manhole cover
Reported via desktop in the Manhole category anonymously at 10:21, Tuesday 8 March 2022
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
. A manhole was installed into the road after Thames Water work was done outside our house and within the last week it is becoming very annoying when cars drive over it as it must be coming loose.
Is it possible please to have it checked urgently as the road is already very noisy and it adds to our sleep disturbance?

If anything the noise has become even worse since this was reported by my neighbour 6 days ago. Very loud and alarming clattering noise each time a vehicle goes over it, especially (but not only) lorries. This suggests the underlying problem is getting worse and could possibly become dangerous.

I am assuming the noise of a disc cutter at 01:45-03:00 and 3 thames water vans today has fixed the problem?!

No, an unrelated coincidence I suspect. Covers were inspected yesterday early afternoon by a Thames Water man but, as expected, no work was done. Or if it was then it was totally ineffective, they're as loud as ever today. Louder than yesterday when presumably the rainwater dampened the noise.
