The noise from the temporary hole covers is unbearable

Reported via mobile in the Current Roadworks category anonymously at 09:00, Tue 8 March 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

We have been awake all night due to the noise of vehicles driving over these temporary road covers and there’s nowhere in our house to escape the noise. Myself my 85 yr old mother and my 15 yr old son have been awake all night! When will this end as I’m going crazy through lack of sleep and it seems no one is concerned on out this issue! Do I take the covers up so we get some peace and quiet? I’m sorry but this is really out of order and goes against human rights! There’s no signs warning drivers to slow down and it’s just like a race course the speed people are driving over these. Surely we should be entitled to some peace and quiet? It’s dangerous!

  • This is getting absolutely ridiculous now, my son is ‘trying’ to study for his GCSE’s none of us have slept in two days now! How long is this going on for? Is there not an alternative cover that doesn’t make our house rock every time a vehicle comes hurtling over it? I’m seriously thinking about booking a hotel room just for some peace and quiet, even though I’m not allowed to work I’d borrow the money just for sanity! Maybe you’d like this happening outside your house and still be able to function properly?

  • The cover has moved yet again for the 4/5th time and the noise is 100x worse than it’s ever been already had two nights without sleep and about to book a hotel room for my elderly mother and my son who is in his final year at secondary school doing his GCSE’s so can’t revise with the racket outside our house. We are at our wits end now and have been backed in to a corner. I’ve tried ringing my solisitors today and am going in tomorrow as I’ve got an appointment tomorrow afternoon. My mother has heart problems and is so upset by all this hence why I’m taking them both to a hotel which is totally out of order considering this is their home and shouldn’t have to move out because the proper equipment and care isn’t being used! It’s not deep now but the covers are causing the issues! Maybe if I take the covers off completely this would get looked at properly? I’m sorry but this isn’t excerptible!
