Sunken/partially excavated cable trench, right-hand edge of east-bound carriageway

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 12:21, Tue 22 February 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Looks like a cable trench that has either sunk or lost it's top layers. Now quite deep, and wide (unavoidable). Near centre of road, driver-side on east-bound carriageway, at junction of A417 and Featherbed Lane

Council ref: ENQ22917839

  • Pothole is extremely large, wide and unavoidable, particularly when pulling out of Featherbed Lane onto the A417. Cars are dangerously but understandably rearranging their positions when pulling out to avoid it, to no avail. I have had to have my wheels aligned twice this month due to this specific Pothole!

  • Many potholes getting steadily worse, especially eastbound. I am now needing to pull over the centre line to avoid the worst ones. Front tyres knocked out of alignment have worn tread unevenly, hence £200 bill this month. Women's cycling UK tour went over this bit of road last weekend and it's only due to their skill that no one crashed here.
