Safety barrier not replaced between busy road and deep drop into stream
Reported via desktop anonymously at 16:48, Thu 20 January 2022
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later
The steel railings were bent by a falling tree some time ago, leaving the stream unguarded in part. This was notified to the council via this site. Only temporary plastic barriers and cones were deployed in response, and later we received a communication saying that no repairs would be done. Last evening (19/01/22 at c. 18:30) a car crashed into the stream via the gaping hole left in the barrier. The driver was very lucky not to have been injured, but could easily have been killed. All 3 emergency services turned out. The stream is 2 feet from the road, with an abrupt drop of 2m into the stream. It needs a proper crash barrier here, and reduced traffic speed through the accident blackspot of Cuttmill
