Traffic sign bolted to tree
Reported via desktop in the Road Markings category anonymously at 16:05, Sun 16 January 2022
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The sign has been nailed to a living tree, which I doubt was lawful, may kill the tree, and being a very heavy electronic device is unsafe. Also an eyesore

A little exaggerated to suggest that those screws are going to kill the tree, or that the device is heavy without actually weighing it first. The bigger question is why it is needed in the first place. Perhaps people visiting the Golf Course by car should learn to obey the speed limit so that speed displays aren't needed. Or perhaps we need traffic calming measures on Hilltop Road to force cars to slow down?

AFAIK - nails driven into living trees need to be sterilized to avoid driving an infection or fungus into the living wood - that's why its not best practice and doubt any professional would fix a street sign in this way

Unfortunately this tree and verge area is on private land, and not part of the public highway. We have not installed this sign, and due to its location on private assets, we have no power to remove it.
