  • Thank you for your enquiry and for bringing this to our attention. As the implementation of any formal crossing area would be a sizable project including full consultation a request would have to come from the local council if we are to progress. In that regard I would recommend bringing this matter to the attention of your local councillor and they will be best positioned to gather public support for such a project.

As for your concerns regarding vehicle speed affecting road crossing safety.
You may be aware that OCC are currently collecting applications for a new scheme aimed at changing the speed limit on 30mph roads to 20mph (where they meet the agreed requirements).
If Sycamore Drive were to be considered in such a programme this may improve the vehicle speeds and subsequently make it easier to cross the road. I would suggest if you haven’t already, contacting the local Council to register an interest as they will be looking for public support on this project.

In the meantime if you are concerned about vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit I would recommend bringing it to the attention of Thames Valley Police.
Speed enforcement is currently the responsibility of Thames Valley Police and whilst we will raise these concerns with them ourselves residents can raise them directly.
As I’m sure you appreciate they will have to prioritise resources accordingly.

The community speed-watch scheme has also recently been relaunched by TVP which may be of interest to you. Of which more information can be found at https://communityspeedwatch.org/ FRONT-v2-Home.php
