3 cyclist dismount signs on a 80m stretch of cycle path
Reported via mobile in the Potholes and maintenance category anonymously at 15:35, Mon 27 December 2021
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
I was out cycling with my son earlier and used this path which is good for safety at a busy junction that is going to get busier when the link road opens to the A361. However there are "cyclists dismount" signs every 5 metres which makes the whole path pointless and will make sure that cyclists stay on the road. How about changing these for "watch for pedestrians" and also having some saying "watch out for cyclists" for pedestrians. I use the path on my way to work as well, and at school run time it's normally full of pedestrians waiting for their kids.
What is the point of a cycle path that you have to get off your bike 3 times in 80m? The money could have been better spent elsewhere.

Dear Mr Whitton,
Thank you for your comments via the FixMyStreet webpage. The Section 278 improvement works (and associated cycleway) at White Post Road, Bodicote have been subject to a Stage 3 Road Safety Audit (RSA3). The audit provided an assessment of the operational highway layout from a safety perspective. The signage on the cycleway has been implemented to comply with RSA3 recommendations. At this time, Oxfordshire County Council have no intention of removing the signage at the identified location. Please note, the “Cyclists Dismount” signs are classified as advisory.
Kind regards
Road Agreements Team
