I was driving this way last night, and noticed the same thing. Some repairs or replacements would be of benefit. Cllr Bethia Thomas.

This is a 90° bend where a number of accidents have occurred over recent years, signage has all been hit over the years and most signs are damaged or facing the wrong way. an accident has occurred as recently as in the last fortnight. Fortunately no personal injury, but once again extensive damage to OCC signage and the Farmers gate. that has now been repaired at a cost of circa £600. and I am advised a claim for compensation, against the OCC, is being made. As the winter weather approaches and the risk of ice on the roads (these roads are hardly ever treated) becomes inevitable, we may once again see cars skidding, smashing through the gates and ending up in the ditch which is wide and will be quite full. On the occasion pictured, this was a mother taking her children to school. they had to be pulled out of the car as it filled with water, it could have been very much worse.

Please be advised, it must be noted, that another accident has occurred at the location. This occurred at 8:15 in the morning on Tuesday, the 18th of January. The vehicle that crashed through the gates was driven by a mother with young children on their way to Saint Hughes school. Since reporting this some weeks back I can see very little action on behalf of Highways and this concerns me greatly. I’m not questioning whether this is a me a matter I should be taking up with my local MP. Unless I see action within the next 72 hours I shall pursue a different route in order to get this problem on the Highway addressed.

Thank you for reporting this to us, I can confirm a highways inspector has been out to this location now and the damaged/ missing signs have now been ordered. Within the order to our contractor we have asked for this to be done as soon as possible with the number of accidents which have occurred here.
