Barriers down - caused by vehicle ignoring temporary road closure order

Reported via Android in the Current Roadworks category anonymously at 10:45, Sun 28 November 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Barriers closing off Ploughley Road, Ambrosden are being bypassed or knocked down by drivers ignoring the road closure order. The female driver of the Ford Focus, pictured, (registration number FE59 RZV) drove over some of the barriers, damaging them in the process (they could be heard cracking under the wheels if the car), before the passenger, a female, stepped out of the car to move bollards that were blocking the way.

  • I saw this same car at approx 2pm today Sunday 28/11/21 driving from Ambrosden towards Arncott on Ploughley Road. I was standing on the corner with Old Arncott Road.

The car stopped and the male driver, mid twenties, fair to mid brown hair, slim build, with an Eastern European accent wound down his window and asked the way to “Shadnam”, which is a made up location. The driver was told that Ploughley Road is closed. He said “it is closed is it?” and then proceeded to driver over the footpaths and cycle paths, over the grass verges to go around the barriers, completely ignoring the signage and barriers. There was a female passenger in the car, but I did not get a clear view of her.

My wife and a third party also witnessed this.
