Windrush Bridges at Langel Common

Reported via mobile in the Cycle Path category anonymously at 17:01, Thu 11 November 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The west bridge started falling apart in November 2020 (the Council's street sweeping machine breaking through the main decking in Spring 2021). The third-round of Council responses to this major issue (on the £500k-plus Active Travel Route promoted by the local councillors on the new OCC administration) stated that the bridges were due to be repaired by the end of October 2021. This has now been put back ANOTHER 3 months to January 2022. Is this a guarantee ?! Why have all proper (not temporary lash-ups) repairs not been completed after a year's wait ? Why no apologies from our councillors (given they have not actually done anything about this for their electorate) ? All as embarrassing as our Government.

  • Photo of bridge decking failure: subsequently patched up, but now "spongey" yet again (proving the main decking is further failing) ... forcing the fixings out ...

  • Well said. Unfortunately, all the money was spent on painting cycle lanes up Corn Street, that nobody asked for & nobody is using. Sorry!
