Roots of tree causing pavement to be at dangerous angle for mobility scooter use

Reported via desktop in the Pavements category anonymously at 22:05, Mon 8 November 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

I was driving a mobility scooter along the path, at the point where I encountered the raised bit by the tree, the scooter suddenly tipped to the right, and I had to put weight through my broken right leg, leaning heavily to the left, to prevent being tipped into the road. This resulted in me having to attend the trauma clinic at hospital on their advice for an X Ray on my broken leg as I’m not supposed to be weight bearing for 3 more weeks. It felt extremely dangerous going over that section of pavement in a mobility scooter.

  • Since the person who originally reported this because of a near accident, nothing has been done about the roots of this tree. This dangerous path is the only route for mobility scooters and wheelchairs off the road to the rear of Waitrose and the main access route from the north of the town. Travelling along the road means dealing with parked cars, two way traffic along the single carriageway and dealing with articulated lorries delivering to Waitrose. It should be a priority.
